Exciting Highlights from the 2024 Sports Communication Pre-College Program at Montclair

Are you a high school student interested in pursuing a career in communication or media? If so, the 2024 Sports Communication Pre-College Program at Montclair State University was an exciting opportunity that you won’t want to miss out on next year!

During this week-long program, students had the chance to experience college life firsthand by living on Montclair’s campus, attending classes taught by industry professionals, and participating in field trips to places like CNBC, a Red Bulls game, and PR/Strategic Communications agencies.

One student, Saanvi Lamba, shared her experience saying, “I made great connections and had professors who specialize in different areas. We received a lot of individual attention and had all our questions answered. The program was amazing. We learned a lot and connected with people who are always willing to help you.”

Another student, Cassandra Orenstein, highlighted the behind-the-scenes work she saw at CNBC, while Luke Bridges enjoyed learning about influencer marketing during a visit to PR agencies in New York City.

The Social Media Success group had a special visit from two former Pre-College students who shared their experiences and advice for getting ahead in college. Tori Mcklaine and Niles Scott both credited their time in the program for influencing their decision to attend Montclair State University.

Dr. Keith Strudler, Director of the School of Communication and Media, emphasized the importance of the Pre-College program in giving high school students a taste of college life and what Montclair has to offer.
