Pros and Cons of Living in UTC Dorms
Living on campus can be a rollercoaster of emotions. From the convenience of being close to everything on campus to the struggle of finding parking, there are definitely pros and cons to consider. As a seasoned dorm resident, I’ve experienced it all and have some insights to share.
Let’s start with the cons. Parking is a nightmare at UTC. The fear of losing your spot and having to trek across campus to your dorm is a constant stressor. The infamous hill from University St. to McCallie Ave. is another challenge for many students, making the daily trek to class a workout in itself. And let’s not forget about the stairs – unless you luck out with an elevator, you’ll be getting your steps in every day.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. The convenience of living on campus is a major plus. Being within walking distance of everything you need on campus can make life a lot easier, especially in those early college years. Plus, not having to deal with landlords and maintenance issues is a huge relief. And let’s talk about cost – living on campus can be a more affordable option compared to renting an apartment for nine months.
And let’s not forget about the space. UTC’s dorms are pretty nice, with many being apartment-style and offering a more homey feel. Sure, moving in and out every year can be a hassle, but it’s a small price to pay for the perks of dorm life.
In the end, living on campus has its ups and downs. While there are certainly challenges to navigate, the convenience, cost, and space can make it all worth it. So, whether you’re a seasoned dorm resident like me or considering it for the first time, just know that there’s a lot to love about living on campus at UTC.
